Since Goleta Valley Council 5300 was organized in 1962, the Knights have played an integral part in the life of St. Raphael’s Parish. The men of the Knights donate their time and talent to many of the Church’s ministries and programs.
The Knights provide financial support and leadership to five Boys Scout units, Youth Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Parish School. The Knights work with Tri-Counties Blood Bank to have Blood Drives at St. Raphael Church three or four times each year. The Council offers family-oriented events for its members such as a Halloween Party and picnics at Stow Grove Park on Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Through their monthly pancake breakfast and regular annual events such as Oktoberfest, Columbus Day Dinner, the Fiesta Coca-Cola™ Booth, and the Friday Night Lenten Fish Fries, the Council is able to dispense $10,000 annually to Parish programs.
Council 5300 meets on the second Monday of each month in the Parish Hall.

LENTEN FISH FRY DINNERS
Knights of Columbus Council 5300 sponsors a Lenten Fish Fry each Friday evening during Lent (no fish fry on Good Friday). Proceeds support the charitable works of the Council.
The members of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus are the ones that most people associate with the Knights. You see them at the Fiesta, Veterans, or Independence Day Parade in their tuxedos and capes with their plumed chapeauxs and the swords. You see them at Church ceremonial events such as Confirmation or during formal visits by the Bishop.
To be a member of the Fourth Degree, a man must also be active in his Council. Junipero Serra Assembly has about 100 members from the three area Councils in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, and Goleta.
