The men and women of the Guadalupanos have their origins in the appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Juan Diego at Tepeyac, outside Mexico City, in 1531. This event has led to the evangelization and baptism of millions of new Christians in the Americas. Our Lady of Guadalupe is known as the “Empress of the Americas”. The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated each year with morning Mananitas, a procession, and an evening bi-lingual Mass. The Guadalupanos work to serve the spiritual needs of the Hispanic community and the entire Saint Raphael community through a devotion to Mary under her protection as Our Lady of Guadalupe.
In addition to planning and organizing all the events on the Feast Day of St. Juan Diego (December 9) and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (December 12), the Guadalupanos also conduct a bilingual Rosary on each Tuesday of May at 7:00 pm in the Church. The Guadalupanos are committed to vocations to the priesthood and their prayer intentions reflect this devotion.
To conduct these Parish-wide celebrations the Guadalupanos hold quarterly Sunday Barbeques, an annual September Dinner-Dance, and an organized three day bus trip to Las Vegas or Laughlin each June.
